How we get there

At present, 579 million people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water. And about 2.4 billion lack proper sanitary facilities. Our vision is a future where no one lacks these necessities. Each year, some 840,000 people die from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and sanitation. Yet simple measures such as handwashing with soap and water are estimated to reduce the risk of diarrhea by up to 50 percent. Promoting handwashing is consequently the most effective and affordable public health intervention.

Reason enough for Football4WASH to make a game of teaching effective hygiene, educating people about appropriate toilet habits as well as how to tap into and safeguard available water sources. Your support helps us provide the necessary facilities at 15 schools and communities in Kampala as well as instill safe sanitary practices.

About the organisation

Viva con Agua is a purpose-driven community that delights in changing the world for the better. As a decentralized network of people and organizations, it works to provide humane access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation through joyful activism.

Driven by dynamic transformation and change, we are constantly evolving. Through our mindful communications and actions, we create the positive impetus to shape our shared culture. We see personal growth as the engine behind our network’s forward development and, in turn, behind positive social change in line with our vision. And we want to go on ensuring that our environment continues to flourish and thrive.

For us, cooperation is the path to success because it creates a stable, sustainable basis for social change. That’s why we value connection and networking — because pulling together not only translates into win-win situations but also unleashes synergies. Our optimistic worldview stems from the faith in our ability to make the world a better place. To do so, we focus on wide-ranging solutions and prospective potential rather than on problems. We believe that a sense of purpose and fun breeds lasting success. As activists for positive change, we are motivated by our cause and the joy that working with and for Viva con Agua brings.
