Help / FAQ
Whatever the nature or amount of a donation, contributions are always welcome. They go a long way to fixing societies’ problems, which is exactly why they are important.
In an ideal world, donations would not be necessary. Various non-profit organisations are tackling some of the challenges. But in order to meet the financial commitments that arise out of their philanthropic work, they need donations or institutional support because they do not sell their services to customers. Since society as a whole benefits from the activities of such organisations, it’s important that we all do our part in making these activities possible. You can do this in a very real way by supporting our projects with your donations.
Donating to any of the elevaide projects makes a difference. After all, we only work with organisations we believe are driving change – not only through the work they do but also how they do it. We know this because the organisations are required to provide evidence that they meet our transparency and quality criteria.
We promise you that 100 percent of your net donation goes to the organisation.
Why do we refer to it as a net donation? Depending on the payment method you choose when making your donation, the payment service provider may charge a fee of up to three percent.
Since we require that every organisation on elevaide limit the use of donations for organisational development to ten percent, you can rest assured that 90 percent of your net contribution is put to use on actual project services.
Earning your trust is important to us. That’s why we transparently track how your donations are allocated to projects at all times.
Before we include an organisation on the elevaide platform, we employ a number of objective transparency and quality criteria to assess the organisation and its work. Part of that entails looking closely at the impact rationale – the relationship between the organisation’s goals, efforts and outcomes – and the annual impact report, which catalogs what the organisation’s work has achieved. Last but not least, organisations may be members of Transparency International, which gives NPOs a score out of ten for transparency. You can view and, in some cases, even download these transparency and quality criteria, if met, from the organisation’s page on elevaide.
What’s more, we get the organisations to specify as clearly as possible how donations are used within the scope of their projects. We require that NPOs direct 90 percent of net donations into project work and reserve no more than ten percent for organisational development.
We try to make things as easy as possible for you. That’s why you can donate through elevaide using a credit card, PayPal or via SEPA direct debit (Europe only) and make a difference.
These methods attract different fees which you are not obliged to pay but can choose to do so when setting up the donation. If you decide not to cover the fees, these will be deducted from your total donation so that the organisation receives a net donation.
For those who do not wish to cover the fees, a donation via SEPA direct debit will ensure that the project of your choice receives the largest possible net amount.
Since elevaide is a non-profit organisation, your donations are generally tax-deductible. In some instances, however, there are a few factors that you personally need to consider. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to offer blanket advice here. A donation receipt is automatically generated and sent to you.
